i agree, the government can only do so much with regulation and other stuff... in the end it's you who click the deposit button and it's you who click the spin button, the outcome of that (good or bad for you) it's your responsibility alone.
Sure, it’s true that it’s up to us whether we click the spin button or not. But if gambling is made so open and accessible to everyone, it’s only a matter of time before the country turns into a gambling hub for many casinos and it becomes normalized.
So what exactly are these regulations supposed to be for? Are they just making sure casinos pay taxes properly, or even that winning players are taxed? It feels like they’re missing the bigger issue: gambling addiction is becoming more rampant because of how easy it is to access these platforms under the current setup.
regulations are not just for taxes, they also make gambling fair and protect players, stuff like self exclusion options, limits on gambling ads, etc...
imo as a gambler, any government has 3 options:
1: regulate the space to make it as safe as possible. this will not only lower gambling addiction, it will also generate tax revenue that can fund help programs for gambling addicts and other programs that can make society better.
2: do nothing. this will allow casinos to do whatever they want. you will get all the negatives without any of the positives, and the government/society will still have to deal with gambling addiction and people ruining their lives.
3: ban it completely. but that's not gonna work... it never does. people will still gamble anyway on shity shady illegal casinos. they would have zero protection and can't even ask for help if they get scammed or for any other reason since what they were doing is illegal.
